a desire to innovate is at our core.
however, to continually draw from that well, we need additional outlets to take risks, experiment, fail, explore and question.
this process often comes through the pursuits of temporary arts installations; where we explore the meduims of installation, public or 2d art.
this segment of our work is not typically comission based, but rather fulfills our interest in freely experimenting with process, methodology or materials.
however, if you would like to be the host of one of our temporary installations, please get in touch with

urban exchange, exterior courtyard and interior lobby
harrisonburg va
Student (and instructor) designed + installed this series of inventive spatial explorations and interventions used nearly 30,000 running feet of colorful flagging tape. The exterior courtyard of Urban Exchange was the laboratory for creating an art installation which engaged the existing architecture of the courtyard and played against existing spatial characteristics to produce new temporary sculptural space.
The impetus for the project came from a recent design studio assignment where the intersection of fabric, fashion and architecture meet.
Opening Reception (in the U|EX courtyard) occurred during downtown Harrisonburg's Block Party in the 'Burg and First Friday events on October 1, 2010
Massive rains and constant wind gusts were a challenge to the exterior installation.

we see no distinction in the various acts of making.
we use painting, photography model building and sketching as a means of exploration and investigation.
each is a viable extension of how we problem solve.

(well, perhaps coffee...)
design inspiration can come from so many sources and outlets including...
texture
composition
geography
detail
nature
decay
humor

we build models to see space, to test space and to perfect craft.
drawing is an act of exploring, testing, studying, and communicating.
the following are a variety of sketches and renderings used for a variety of purposes.
